Reactor in AC Voltage Withstand Test Device

Oct 20, 2025 Leave a message

Especially in the AC withstand voltage test of electrical equipment, series resonant withstand voltage test often uses reactors. The function of the reactor in the test is to make XC=XL, which will cause the loop to resonate and obtain high voltage. The resonance frequency depends on the capacitance of the test object and the inductance of the reactor. Reactors are also known as inductors.

After a conductor is energized, it generates a magnetic field in the space it occupies, therefore, all current carrying conductors have a general meaning. Reactance is divided into inductive reactance and capacitive reactance. A more scientific classification is to collectively refer to inductors (inductors) and capacitive reactors (capacitors) as reactors. However, since inductors have been used in the past and are called reactors, they are now called capacitors, especially inductors.

Characteristics of several commonly used reactors in AC voltage withstand test equipment testing:

Iron core reactors have high noise and poor linearity, which can cause leakage, local overheating, magnetic saturation, and coil burnout. The effects of system overvoltage, overcurrent, and harmonic can cause a sharp decrease in the iron core's supersaturation reactance, suppress the ability to reduce harmonics, and result in lower short-circuit current resistance. In addition to the above drawbacks, dry core reactors cannot operate outdoors.

Dry type air core reactors have good linearity, no noise, strong overcurrent capacity, strong heat dissipation capacity, simple and sturdy mechanical structure, can be used indoors and outdoors, and are basically maintenance free. The disadvantage is that they are large in size and suffer from significant losses.

Half nuclear reactor, half nuclear power is a new type of dielectric material between the core and air. Half nuclear reactor has the advantages of core and hollow reactor. A new semi nuclear reactor has been formed. The diameter of a half core reactor is 20% smaller than that of a hollow reactor. The linear loss is 25%, the linearity is close to a straight line, the impedance does not decrease with the increase of current, and the noise is below 50DB. It is easy to install in the cabinet and is a good reactive power compensation series reactor.

There are many different types of reactors, and the inductance of long straight conductors is relatively small, resulting in a weak magnetic field. Therefore, the actual reactor is a wire wound in the form of a solenoid, called an air core reactor. Sometimes, in order to manufacture this type of spiral tube, it has a large inductance and the iron core is inserted into a solenoid, which is called an iron core reactor. Additionally, the position can be classified into the same type based on series and parallel connections.
