The VLF cable tester is a test device used to detect the insulation performance of high-voltage cables. VLF stands for Very Low Frequency, which usually refers to an AC test frequency below 0.1Hz. Compared with the traditional power frequency withstand voltage test (50Hz/60Hz), the VLF test can more effectively evaluate the insulation status of the cable while reducing damage to the device under test.

Wide Frequency Test Range
The VLF cable tester has a wide frequency test range of 0.01Hz to 0.1Hz, which can adapt to more types and lengths of cables than the traditional 0.1Hz fixed frequency tester. For example, when testing short-distance distribution cables, 0.1Hz can be used to quickly detect the insulation performance of the cable. When testing long-distance transmission cables, due to the larger capacitance, 0.02Hz can be used for testing to reduce the electrical stress on the cable and improve the test reliability.
High Voltage Output Capability
The peak voltage output range of the VLF cable tester is 30kV to 90kV, which is suitable for cables of various high voltage levels. For example, the 30kV model is suitable for 10kV cable testing, such as urban distribution network cable maintenance. The 90kV model can be used for cables with voltage levels of 110kV and higher, such as high-speed rail traction power supply systems or ultra-high voltage transmission lines.
High-precision Measurement
Our ultra-low frequency cable tester has a measurement accuracy of up to ±0.1%, which is far higher than the industry average of ±0.5%. This is because we use a filtering algorithm to distinguish between real signals and noise, increasing the signal-to-noise ratio to 80dB, which is 20dB higher than conventional testers. In actual tests, our equipment can accurately identify defects of 0.1mm² on a 50km long cable, while traditional equipment can only detect defects larger than 1mm².
