Precautions

1. During the measurement process, be sure not to touch the metal parts of the test line to avoid being damaged by electrical shock.

2. When measuring wiring, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions, otherwise the consequences will be borne by oneself.

3. Before testing, it is necessary to carefully check whether the set parameters are correct.

4. It is best to use a grounded power socket.

5. Cannot operate under excessive voltage and current limits.

6. During the short-circuit test, the short-circuit on the non pressurized side must be in good condition, otherwise it will affect the test results.

7. When conducting a short-circuit test, if a ring current transformer is installed in the high-voltage or medium voltage side outlet bushing, the secondary of the current transformer must be short circuited before the test.

8. The test wiring work must be carried out with the tested circuit grounded to prevent induced voltage electric shock. All short circuits, grounding, and leads should have sufficient cross-sectional area and must be securely connected. The testing organization work should be rigorous and communication should be smooth to ensure the safe and smooth progress of the testing work.

9. When the remaining power of the instrument is less than 10%, it should be charged and fully charged each time; Try not to charge when there is still a lot of battery remaining to avoid affecting the battery life.

Work Principle

The Transformer Capacity Load No-load Tester operates by applying a reduced voltage or current to the transformer's low-voltage side and using mathematical extrapolation to calculate full-rated parameters. For the no-load test, it injects a low voltage (typically 30-50V at 50/60Hz or a variable frequency) into the low-voltage winding while the high-voltage side remains open, measures the actual no-load current and power (iron loss), then scales the results to the rated voltage using the transformer's equivalent circuit model. For the load test, it short-circuits the low-voltage side, injects a small current (1-10% of rated current) into the high-voltage side, measures the impedance voltage and copper loss, and extrapolates to 100% rated current. For capacity measurement, the tester automatically determines the unknown transformer's rating by comparing the measured no-load and load parameters against built-in standard databases. All calculations are performed by a built-in microprocessor, which compensates for temperature, corrects to the reference temperature (usually 75°C or 120°C), and outputs a pass/fail report without requiring external high-power supplies or heavy loading equipment.

FAQ

Q: What is a Transformer Capacity Load No-load Tester used for?

A: It is used to measure the rated capacity, no-load loss (iron loss), no-load current, load loss (copper loss), impedance voltage, and short-circuit impedance of distribution and power transformers without requiring external high-voltage power supplies.

Q: How does it perform no-load and load tests without a high-capacity power source?

A: The tester uses a variable-frequency or low-power method. For no-load test, it applies a reduced voltage (as low as 30-50V) to the low-voltage side and measures losses, then calculates the rated no-load parameters mathematically. For load test, it injects a small current (1-10% of rated) and extrapolates to full load values.

Q: How accurate are the capacity and loss measurements?

A: High-quality testers offer accuracy of ±0.5% to ±1% for capacity, ±0.5% for losses, and ±0.2% for voltage/current measurements. This level of precision is sufficient for energy auditing, commissioning, and forensic investigation of transformer performance.

Q: Is the tester portable for field use?

A: Yes, typical units weigh between 5kg to 15kg (including test leads) and are housed in rugged carrying cases. They are battery-powered or operate from a standard single-phase 220V/110V outlet, making them ideal for substation or warehouse use without lifting equipment.

Q: Can the goods be customized and how long is the delivery time?

A: After ordering the goods, we can use the latest technology to place orders according to the customer's special requirements. If there are no accidents, the delivery time is usually within 10 working days.
