Product introduction of Automatic Insulation Boots Test Instrument
The Automatic Insulation Boots Test Instrument is used for intelligent insulation withstand voltage testing of safety tools such as insulated shoes and gloves
Capable of testing up to 8 insulating gloves or insulating boots simultaneously under power-frequency withstand voltage conditions, while measuring the leakage current of each test position independently.
The insulating glove test uses an automatic water-filling system. Water level and filling height are automatically controlled in accordance with DL/T 1476-2015 and GB/T 17622-2008 requirements, ensuring consistent and compliant test conditions.
For insulating boots, a steel-ball dry test method is adopted instead of the traditional water-filling approach, eliminating the drying issues commonly encountered after testing and improving overall efficiency.
The water-filling unit is controlled by a PLC and supports one-touch filling, position detection, water level monitoring, automatic water replenishment, and automatic reset functions, helping ensure both test accuracy and operational safety.
A user-friendly HMI continuously displays operating status and provides real-time notifications and alarm messages throughout the testing process.
The system is equipped with an 8-channel wireless leakage current acquisition module for real-time monitoring. Each test channel features independent protection. If the leakage current of any channel reaches the preset limit, that channel is disconnected immediately without affecting the remaining test positions.
A large touchscreen interface displays key test data in real time, including test voltage, output current, leakage current, timing status, and operating prompts.
A high-precision stepper motor controls the voltage regulator, enabling automatic voltage ramp-up, voltage holding, timing, and ramp-down. At the end of the test, the system powers down automatically and displays the test results.
Compatible with test transformers of different transformation ratios and can be integrated with existing high-voltage test transformers already in service at the customer's site.
Optional PC software is available for remote operation, data acquisition, report generation, result printing, and data upload, providing more convenient test management and record keeping.

Main Components of Automatic Insulation Boots Test Instrument
High-Voltage Generator: Produces the required test voltage (typically adjustable 0-30kV or higher).
Intelligent Control Unit (PLC/Microprocessor): The system's brain; controls test procedures, parameter settings, data acquisition, logic decisions, trip execution, result display, etc.
Precision Current Measurement Unit: High-sensitivity, high-accuracy measurement of microampere (μA) leakage currents.
Automatic Trip Device (HV Relay/Fast Switch): Controlled by the control unit; instantly disconnects the high-voltage circuit upon fault detection.
Safety Protection System: Includes door interlocks (power cut on door open), grounding protection, overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, etc.
Dedicated Test Electrode Tanks/Fixtures:
Insulated Boot Test Tank: Water-filled tank holding boots; internal metal electrode (inner electrode), water outside boot acting as outer electrode.
Insulated Glove Test Fixture: Metal frame holding gloves filled with water; water inside glove acts as inner electrode, outer metal frame acts as outer electrode (or vice versa).
Water Filling/Draining System: Typically highly automated for easy filling and post-test drainage.
Human-Machine Interface (HMI): Touchscreen or display + keypad for parameter setting, test initiation, real-time display of voltage/current/time, and test results/alarm messages.
Data Management Unit: Stores test data (sample ID, operator, test time, voltage, leakage current, result); connects to printers for reports or computers for upload.

Core application industry of automatic insulation boots test instrument
Power grid and power generation enterprises (operation and maintenance centers): Substation maintenance centers, transmission operation and inspection centers of power supply companies at all levels, and electrical laboratories of power plants. Used for conducting periodic preventive tests on insulated boots and gloves for frontline electricians to ensure personal safety when entering high-voltage electric fields.
Third party power testing/certification agencies: undertake the safety performance appraisal of insulation tools commissioned by various enterprises and institutions in society, and issue statutory testing reports.
Insulation product manufacturing enterprises (factory quality inspection): manufacturers of insulation boots, insulation gloves, and insulation rubber pads, used for individual withstand voltage testing of finished products before leaving the factory, to verify whether the products meet the breakdown strength threshold specified by the national standard.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What is the main purpose of the automatic insulation boots test instrument?
A: Mainly used for conducting power frequency withstand voltage tests and leakage current detection on electrical safety tools such as insulated boots and gloves, to determine whether the insulation performance of the test sample meets the test requirements.
Q2: Why choose devices with "automatic release" function?
A: When a certain insulated boot or glove experiences breakdown or leakage current exceeding the set value, the test sample can be automatically disconnected from the high-voltage system to avoid affecting the continued testing of other samples and improve testing efficiency and safety.
Q3: How many insulated boots or gloves can be tested at once?
A: The standard configuration of UHV-282 can simultaneously test 2 insulated boots or gloves, and can also be customized to 8 according to customer needs.
Q4: Can the automatic insulation boots test instrument measure the leakage current of each sample simultaneously?
A: Okay. The automatic insulation boots test instrument adopts a multi-channel leakage current sampling method, which can monitor the leakage current of each test sample separately, making it easy to quickly identify abnormal test samples.
Q5: Is it safe to sample the leakage current of the automatic insulation boots test instrument?
A: The equipment adopts a high and low voltage separation design, and the leakage current sampling and tripping mechanism of UHV-282 is powered by lithium batteries, which helps reduce the risk of operators coming into contact with the high-voltage system during high-voltage testing.
Q6: Can the automatic insulation boots test instrument automatically complete the withstand voltage test?
A: Okay. The equipment is used for intelligent insulation withstand voltage testing of safety tools, which can be completed in conjunction with the control system to reduce manual operation, improve testing efficiency and repeatability.
